Brake Shoe Fitting Tips
Before renewing the brake shoes always measure the maximum diameter of the brake drum. Never use drums if they are over or close to the maximum diameter! The maximum diameter is marked on the brake drum.
Should any one brake shoe of an axle be worn below 2mm, then a complete new axle set must be fitted.
On some systems an inspection hole in the backplate enables the mechanic to see whether the linings are worn without removing the brake drum.
